Her previous vocations include 12 years working in corporate technology and 8 years as both a theatrical and visual artist. Today writing is her form of self-expression. Writing for Healing, Journaling, and Dream Analysis are just some of the Expressive Arts Modalities she incorporates into her work. She is also an Advanced LENS Neurofeedback Practitioner, and integrates Biofeedback, Neurofeedback, and Hypnosis into her practice. She is finishing her Ph.D. dissertation on breathing restriction in the Department of Applied Psychophysiology in the College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences at Saybrook University in Pasadena California. She brings years of yoga, meditation practice, mindfulness-based instruction and relaxation techniques to promote emotional regulation and soothe nervous system aggravation in her clients. She offers groups, classes, and lectures on Brain Health, Trauma-informed care, and the psychophysiological underpinnings of symptoms and behaviors.
Her psychotherapeutic overview is Logotherapy, or “Meaning-based” therapy, a form of client centered, Humanistic-Existential talk therapy developed by Viktor Frankl to assist individuals find his/her/their own meaning in life. Bonnie blends evidenced-based practices such as Mindfulness-based interventions and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with Psychophysiology to provide relief for aggravated symptoms of the central nervous system such as ADHD, Anxiety/Panic, Depression, OCD, PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Disordered Breathing, and Chronic Pain.
LENS is just one type of Neurofeedback intervention that can assist persons who have trouble with self-regulation due to maladaptive physiological or emotional coping mechanisms. These maladaptive responses to life’s threats or trauma lie in the neuronal structures and can be experienced as negative feedback loops. Some people experience these literally as ‘negative thought patterns.’ They may not be aware of them at all - but feel they are struggling to succeed in life, or describe the constant feeling of "overwhelm." Bonnie’s uses different modalities of biofeedback/neurofeedback, and different product lines such as: Neurofield, Vielight, LENS, HeartMath, Thought Technology, and other products which she feels round her practice with tools for healing. Her personal observation of Neurofeedback interventions is they break up these negative feedback loops and allow the brain to optimize its own performance; creating a new sense of calm and mental clarity. Hence more self awareness. LENS and other forms of Neurofeedack, including pulsed infrared light stimulation, compliment traditional talk therapy, Somatic Therapy, Body work, Cranial Sacral Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, EMDR, and other healing modalities. Bonnie was a LENS Neurofeedback client before she became a Neurofeedback provider. She later extrapolated her education into the greater field of Psychophysiology. She has an intuitive knack for designing healing protocols that cater to each individual. She also takes an intuitive-spiritual approach to her work, as what surfaces is meant to be witnessed before released and is part of the integration process.
